i can't keep my hands off these scraps, I am hand piecing little parts, then machine stitching bigger sections together. and I truly don't know where i'm going with it, but am enjoying picking up the clear colors of spring.......
this section is one piece.
below are more pieces, little sections......

Deb, I can already tell this is going to be a gem!! There is a nice surprise waiting at the other end!
ReplyDeleteI need to try hand piecing sometimes. It sounds as soothing as hand applique. And I do enjoy that!
The funny thing about quilting... I am leaving for India soon and my brain is over flowing with ideas!!! I am going to miss sewing while I am gone but there is so much more to gain so I guess I should hold on to my horses!
Fun! Kind of like seeing what comes up in the garden this time of year. I've been thinking about getting back to my scraps too. I love the way we rebels are so often thinking about the same things!
ReplyDeleteDeb, I wondered where you'd been. These are great, and the hand/machine piecing is a good idea. Do you need any scraps?
ReplyDeleteSujata, be sure to write those ideas down. When I'm overcome with too many ideas, I write them ALL down. Then I zero in on the one with the most energy. When I'm feeling short of ideas, reviewing these lists gets the energy going agin.
ReplyDeleteBuffy, that is a great idea. I think I should also carry a sketchbook with me on the trip. I always write down the pattern ideas but by the time I see the fabrics, something spontaneous happens..and that is fun too!
ReplyDeletei have to write down ideas too. some of my best ones come when I can't act on them. i had so many good ideas this morning, i think it was sujata's encouragement! btw - when you go to India, take along a little bag of scraps. hand stitch them together when you can, you will be surprised how quickly they grow into something....i wish i could go, i would love to see the fabrics there....
ReplyDeletehee hee buffy! i have scraps! lots of them....but thanks for thinking of me.....
