I had the good fortune to go to NYC for a quilting retreat hosted by Victoria last weekend. I took only a few solid fabrics and used scraps supplied by everyone else. Here's what came home with me. It's 72 x 80. I brought home some strips from the scrap pile, and am wondering about a border. Any ideas?
I love it just the way it is...but if you want a border...I'll just bet you come up with something terrific!
ReplyDeleteOoooo, I can see a border on this..If it was my quilt, I see an extension of the zigzags but limited to colors and value. So it looks like a border but does not break the movement of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting quilt!
my vote is no border...
ReplyDeleteI say it is great how it is. I love it.
ReplyDeletei've already put your quilt on my absolutely have to make list .. i love everything about it and would not add a border.
ReplyDeleteit's me again .. i just have to tell you that my heart goes thump every time i see this .. did you have a plan / color scheme when you started? are they all HSTs or did you slip in some flying geese? i would love to know so much more ...
ReplyDeleteLeeAnn, what if you did a zig zag border, but bigger? Like 75 or 100% larger than these triangles? I just love looking at this quilt again and again!
ReplyDeleteLots of New York energy here! I like what I see. What about slicing the quilt top twice and inserting two narrow diagonal lines of black or another solid. This would give the eye a place to rest. Then see if a border is called for.
ReplyDeleteThis is so much fun! I keep seeing it on other blogs from those who attended the retreat with you. Seems that general consensus is, you made a winner! I love it just the way it is. If anything, do the "continue the design but in another color/value" idea. It is beautiful!
