Once again my "Wheel" is on the design wall.

Last time I worked on this quilt was in September,.2010. You will see why one should not take this long to finish a quilt!

This wheel started out from the leftover wedges from another quilt. There is a big hole in the middle that needs to be covered!

I had added some confetti and some strips to finish the quilt as a wall hanging in Sep. 2010.

And now more than a year later, with more scraps added to it, I feel that it lost it's boldness.

Should I add more of those bold strips to it?  This image is very close to how all the pieces fit into each other. I am open to any and all suggestions.

  1. fun! my only suggestion is a little less black background.

  2. I love how it's all coming together. I like the black and think maybe more black and bold strips to balance it out some?

  3. I LOVE it both ways!! It has a very Anna Williams feel. The blocks of solid strips look good next to it, and help to set it off in the smaller version. If you go with the larger, maybe you could add more of those.

  4. very interesting look for both of them.
I agree with Nifty quilts, the second one is very Anna Williams feel, the first one reminds me of you! the soilds on the left, I love that, maybe you need to add more solids and black and red around the outer edges of the quilt...
    have fun playing with it.

  5. I agree with all of your suggestions. I think with all the scrappy surrounding my wheel is getting lost. I intended for it to be the star. I am going to leave this on the design wall for a while and work on my corduroy quilt instead.
    Thanks everyone for your input!
    It definitely needs more black.

  6. I like the larger version, but agree with Nifty about moving the solid strip blocks closer to the center. This is a very exciting piece.

  8. You're right. It lost its boldness. Version 2 much stronger graphic.
    Try a BIG BLACK BORDER.

  9. Really like the black fabric behind the wheel with the turquoise tropical flowers. The wheel is not tropical, so the dissonance gets my attention.

  10. I love that fabric too. The black is so dense and retro flowers are bold to make a statement even with the small amount.
It is still cooking on the wall!

  11. Cut the left 1/3 of it completely off and reattach to the right side, turned upside down, so the circle faces in.

  12. Print copies of picture of the quilt top as it is and cut up the paper quilts until you see what you like to sew together.
